Back from Bandipur.

We had too many chicken in our group, if ranked, Divya, Neetu and Satish....in that order. Ofcourse that made the entire group as well. They were just too scared to go out and enjoy nature. I have one regret of not being able to capture the Bison and the Giant Squirrel on my camera, despite being able to spot them. Apart from the above, we spotted Elephants, Deer, Peacock, Birds of several types (not good at recognising them), Monkeys (no, not the ordinary ones, the entire body fur is black in colour and with an extra long tail to go with), and other small creatures. The image you see on the left is that of the common monkey.
Some of the animals rush across the road in a jiffy......even before you can lift the camera to your eye level. Given an opportunity, would like to return to Bandipur and capture more animals on Camera. However, the animal that I had learnt to respect is the Elephant in the last picture. The herd was rushed by the bull elephant into the thicket when the bus moved too close to the herd. Leaving the herd in the thicket, it than came back at the bus charging and trumpetting loud enough to scare the most on the safari bus.

The accomodation deserves a special mention here. Bala, the owner of Jungle home at Madhumalai, (http://www.wildlifesanctuaryindia.com/ ) made the visit truly enjoyable. Good people to be with. He is a treasure trove of infomation and ofcourse contacts. You can reach him on his mobile as mentioned in the website. Contrary to the other people in the group, I enjoyed my stay thoroughly.
